Curriculum for Excellence

  • Successful learners
  • Responsible citizens
  • Confident individuals
  • Effective contributors

The guidelines for Curriculum for Excellence are available to look at on the Education Scotland website.

Nursery-P7 Curriculum

Each child in the school will develop at his or her own rate. This development takes place through individual and group learning as well as through class teaching. To assist in the planning of the curriculum staffs use National Guidelines as well as authority and school policies. This ensures a structured progression of learning from Pre-School Nursery to Primary 7.

At the beginning of each primary school year teachers will send home a curriculum statement that outlines the main topics that pupils in that class will be studying. There is also a homework statement sent home at the start of each session which outlines the teacher’s expectations and informs parents so that they know what to expect and will be able to assist their child.

Parents will be invited to parent interviews in November and in May. A written annual report will be given to parents in May. In addition to this, parents should not hesitate to contact the school if they wish to discuss any thoughts or concerns related to their child.
